During my trip to Brazil last winter I spent a week in our beautiful Zen-monastery „Morro da vargem“, in the state of Espirito Santos in the Northeast of Brazil.
I have been visiting this monastery, which also is a wild-life preserve, since its beginnings 25 years ago and its abbot “Daisho” is my Dharma-brother.
I painted all animals of the forest surrounding the monastery. Apes, parrots, turtles, deer etc. live here in harmony and peace, having equal rights as the monks.
Naturally I gave all Sumi-e paintings that originated from this visit to the monastery as a gift and promised, due to the great demand, to send more typical Zen-motives.
